Starting the new saison (EDHI-EDDL)

The new VISUAL-PC is up and running. Time for a new journey. We are in Hamburg-Finkenwerder (EDHI) and take over a brand new A320. Exciting. It's a bit like picking up a new car from the dealer. The smell of something new is only virtual, but we still let it sink in. Only a few fans are running in the cockpit. Otherwise it is quiet. The generator station has already arrived and after the necessary checks we can bring the aircraft to life.

Brand new aeroplane? Well,  the GEN1 is already causing trouble before it really gets going. But after a restart, it takes up its duties. We make a note of the error. This can also be checked in Düsseldorf and shouldn't hold us up any longer.

Off we go in the direction of Düsseldorf. We take off from 23, so unfortunately the departure route does not go over Hamburg, but from the side window we can at least see the Elbe for a short time before it disappears behind us. The weather on the route is calm and the traffic is manageable. Basically, it's just straight ahead.

We ask ATC for a higher flight level and are kindly granted it immediately. There are a few clouds in the air before Düsseldorf and it gets a bit bumpy. But nothing that really bothers us.

The 5R is in operation in Düsseldorf. We are in Germany and the controller insists on the wording "5R". He doesn't like "05R" and corrects us several times. Nevertheless, we receive suitable vectors early on, which guide us precisely to the intercept point of the 5R's ILS.

The approach itself is just a formality. After all, we know Düsseldorf very well.

Welcome home!

We get our gate of choice, B10. On the way there we pass the Emirates A380. This plane connects Düsseldorf with Dubai on a non-stop flight.

The first flight is done and documented in Volanta.

It was really fun. Hopefully we'll continue soon. Probably to Munich or Sylt. Depending on the weather. :-)
